Conference of Member States of the Chemical and Waste Conventions in Geneva
From April 29 to 10 May 2019, Member States of the International Conventions on the Reduction of the Risks of Chemicals and Hazardous Wastes will meet in Geneva. The international community wants to continue its efforts to promote the environmentally sound management of hazardous waste. Among other things, the problems of plastic littering in the oceans and waste containing nanomaterials are discussed. Likewise, other substances are found whose production and use are to be stopped internationally. ETI is involved in development and transition countries for various UN agencies and the Stockholm Convention Secretariat in PCB projects. ETI will be represented locally by Urs K. Wagner in his role as board member of the PCB Elimination Network (PEN). Urs K. Wagner will present at a side event at the CICG in Geneva in the first week of the conference the updated guidance of the secretariat of the Stockholm Convention on the handling of PCBs in open systems.
